2017-2018 EMB BOARD:

Diane Lama (President): Diane played flute, bass flute and piccolo through high school, including NYSSMA, All-County and a 15 piece flute choir that played gigs around town. She has a daughter who plays cello, a son who plays trumpet and a daughter who enjoys singing the Blues.

Marlo Hunter (Vice President): Marlo has been a Clarinetist since 4th grade: NYSSMA Solo competitions, Conference All State Orchestra/ Band (principal chair); Manhattan School of Music (Prep college on weekends in 11th grade Principal chair); Played for The College Light Opera Company in Falmouth,Mass on Cape Cod @ the Highfield Theatre (Principal chair); University of North Carolina@Greensboro (scholarship-principal chair) Performance and education: UNCG Wind Ensemble, Honors Quintet, UNCG played at Lincoln Center @ Alice Tully Hall. Her son plays Trumpet and her daughter plays flute and piccolo.

Jane O’Reilly (Co-Publicity Chair/PTA Council Rep):  Jane is Executive Director of Creative Services at Travel + Leisure. She played piano when she was younger, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of The Rolling Stones. Her daughter loves theater and has been in a few plays including Annie Get Your Gun and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She is learning guitar from her Dad, and has selected clarinet as her school instrument. When he’s not working full time, her husband plays guitar in a rock ‘n’ roll band called Holmes.

Lynn Portnoff (Co-Publicity Chair): Lynn is a senior designer at Penguin Random House for Penguin Young Readers. She designs covers and interiors for children’s books such as the What Was series, the Mister Men Little Miss series, the Magic Bone series, and many others.  Her son plays the clarinet and the piano and plans on joining the MS Jazz Band. Her daughter plays guitar and will be playing drums in the school band as well as singing in the chorus. Her husband, Daniel, took guitar lessons as a child and now plays as a hobby. Lynn has no musical ability but will claim her composer/teacher/musican grandfather and his brother for her children’s musical DNA!

Amy Axelson Capeci (Communications Chair): Amy has directed children’s opera and has worked on productions in New York and across the country for companies such as Washington National Opera in Washington, D.C., Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit, San Francisco Lyric Opera, Pine Mountain Music Festival, New York Chamber Opera and Dicapo Opera among others. Amy is the mother of two young boys 3 and 5. The oldest who will be attending Waverly in the fall.
