September 2015 Meeting Minutes

Eastchester Music Boosters Meeting Minutes

Sept. 29, 2015, 7:00pm, MS Cafeteria

  • A high school string quartet, led by Tri-M President and HS Senior, Sandy Chilson, started our meeting off by performing. Sandy then talked about the recently formed high school chapter of Tri-M (The National Music Honor society).
  • High School Bond: We viewed the student made video which presented the conditions at the high School from a student perspective. Dr. Moran and Dr. Capuano both spoke briefly about the bond. We then voted as a group, resulting in unanimous support of the Bond.
  • Certificates of Appreciation were distributed to our student representatives who were present at this meeting – thanking them for their work with us for the inaugural semester (Jan-June 2015)
  • The board members introduced themselves for the benefit of new members present.
  • Membership report: currently, we have just under 200 members.
  • Financial report: $240. balance. We now have a Music Boosters checking account in place.
  • Website update: we are in the process of creating teacher notes pages on our website. Currently there is a page for Mrs. Green and we are in the process of loading the instrument instruction schedules for Mr. Zantay, to be followed by the posting of the Waverly winter concert schedule on a page for Mrs. Ness.
  • We canvased a little for fund raising ideas – car magnets will be researched; Minnie and Marylou Montagna will be creating samples of possible music bookmarks and/or greeting cards.
  • There was a suggestion of creating a page on our website listing area concerts and performance opportunities. – We would need a volunteer to cull this information.
  • Diane floated an Idea about creating a community outreach program for donations of unwanted instruments gathering dust – for families who are interested in pursuing instrumental study for their children but cannot afford instrument purchase or rental.
  • We hope to sell refreshments at the winter concerts again this year. We will put our Music Booster Table away from the auditorium doors to help alleviate the noise and social gathering in front of the auditorium doors during performance.
